The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway was hailed as one of the standout infrastructure projects globally that helps improve people’s quality of life.
FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, named the 8.9-kilometer modern toll expressway as an Outstanding Project of the Year (Medium to Large) during the FIDIC Global Infrastructure Awards 2023 held in Singapore on September 10-12, 2023.
The FIDIC Project Awards 2023 puts the spotlight on the achievements of consulting engineering member firms and their clients across the globe. And more than the design and construction, the award celebrates projects that have positive economic impact and benefits on society, put consideration to environmental and social safeguards, and contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
CCLEX is among the 30 projects worldwide (from 14 countries) that FIDIC recognized “for excellent construction and infrastructure that transform people’s lives.”
For the design and building of the modern toll expressway, Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) awarded the contract to Cebu Link Joint Venture (CLJV), a consortium of Spanish company Acciona Construccion S.A., and Filipino companies First Balfour, and D.M. Consunji Inc.
CCLEC also engaged the services of COWI A/S of Denmark, with the Philippines’ DCCD Engineering Corporation, as the project’s technical advisor/owner’s engineer while Norconsult, a Norwegian consultancy firm, was also tapped as the project’s independent consultant.
Accepting the FIDIC Project Award 2023 for CCLEX were CCLEC President and General Manager Allan G. Alfon and CCLEC Vice President and Project Manager Engr. Herbert C. Laboy together with the officials of Acciona, COWI, and Norconsult.
